Increase your income +$25k with this framework [Issue 016]

Big picture...

You need 2 things to increase your freelance income

... or hitting any big goal you have.

1. A plan that you fully believe in

2. Your most important next action

Like most powerful truths, it’s simple, but not easy.

I find it helpful to think of this in the reverse t0 make it more tangible...

1. What does not having a plan you believe in look like?

• Sort of having a plan in your head, but not writing it down

• Having a plan given to you by someone who’s never done what you want to achieve

• Having lots of little plans all over the place

• Having no plan at all and just winging it

2. What does not knowing the most important next step look like?

• Having a shotgun approach: try doing all the things all at once (social posts, networking, cold emails, job boards, etc.)

• Doing whatever feels right in the moment, but as soon as it gets hard, switching to another action or strategy

• Not taking action because you’re waiting for the stars to align

Here’s the thing. There’s no ONE right way to increase your income, but you do need to...

• CHOOSE a strategy

• And TAKE ACTION great enough that it would be unreasonable for you not to succeed

So how do you pick a good income increasing strategy?

Here are some ways to build a winning strategy...

• [Least Efficient]
  Build your own strategy from past experience, books you've read, content you've found online

  • This is cheap/free

  • But might take longer to hit your goal

• [More Efficient]
  Build your own mastermind... find a group of peers who want the same thing. Help each other out and hold each other accountable to taking action each week or month.

  • This can also be cheap/free

  • And it will likely get you better results because you will have support

  • But the downside is it could be a situation of the helpless being led by the clueless

• [Most Efficient]
  Borrow an expert's strategy... find someone who's hit the income you want and use their strategy (often via coaching, masterminds, or courses)

How do you know what next action is best?

• If you're going with a build-your-own strategy, it's up to you to decide every day what's most important

• If you've got a group, ask for advice when you're stuck

• If you're borrowing an expert's plan, that plan should clearly state what you should be doing next at each stage of the strategy
