You're not being considered for jobs because of this... and how to fix it. [Issue 001]

Hopefully this isn't you, but just in case...

Check your links!

  1. Open your Twitter profile... click the link in your bio...

  2. Does this go to your website/portfolio?

✅ If your link goes to your website/portfolio... HIGH FIVE ✋

🚫 If you have no link or it's a broken link...

  1. Hit "Edit profile"

  2. Enter an up to date link to your website/portfolio

  3. Hit save

Now repeat for...

[ ] LinkedIn
[ ] Instagram
[ ] Dribbble (are people still using this?)
[ ] Any other social media platform you use

This should take less than 5 minutes.

It is SURPRISING how many profiles I run across that have either no link or broken links.

Here's the problem... when people are searching for artists to hire, they look at dozens or hundreds of accounts. And they don't have time or energy to go searching your name on Google. They'll move on to the next qualified person who makes it easy for them to find their work... and makes it easy to get in touch with them.

✨ BONUS: This is something you should do regularly. Put “Social Media Audit” or your calendar and set it to repeat every 3 to 6 months.

This unexpectedly helped Joel…

“This was very helpful - I checked mine all proud thinking that ‘of course my link was working’ and ‘who would have broken links in their twitter account’, and then I realized that a DNS misconfiguration had taken my website down for the last month LOL as I had switched email providers recently and that dummy was me.

Thanks for the great advice!”
