Become more recognizable in the motion design industry

Okay so here's the thing…  you love taking courses.

Cool 😎👍

Most people join courses, but don’t actually finish them.

Sad 😢👎

Lucky for you, I have a one-two punch that will help you get the most out of any course… AND  extract value going forward without any extra effort… resulting in you becoming a better motion designer… AND more recognizable in the motion design industry.

Method 1: The Number One Student

Decide that you will become the number one student. This decision will help you get the most out of any course, mentorship, or membership.

When you decide to be the number one student, you will pay attention during the course, you will push yourself to really understand the content, ask better questions and get better results.

Whether you actually become the number one student or not isn't the point. What’s important is what the drive to become the number one student does for you.

Method 2: Poster Child

At the end of the course, you will have gotten great results… increased confidence, leveled up skills, stronger network, etc.

Now, just let the course creator know the results you got. Tell them things like the following:

  • Where you were when you started

  • What the experience of going through the program was like

  • Specific results you got in the end

You could write an email about your experience, fill out their exist survey (if they have one), or even record a video of yourself.

The lifeblood of marketing for courses and products is having raving reviews and testimonials… so when you share your story and the amazing results you got, the course creator (if they’re smart) will share your story on their website.

As you can see in the video above, I've been featured on School of Motion, Mograph Mentor, seanwes, and Motion Hatch websites because of the testimonials I’ve given.

Examples of places I’ve been a featured student or member

The benefit I’ve gotten from this is heightened recognizability in the motion designer this year. It’s social proof that I’m a relevant figure in the industry.

I can't tell you how many people have said, “Holy cow, Austin! You're everywhere!”

While this can sound like a vanity metric, it’s powerful to be top of mind. I’ve gotten countless freelance gigs from people whom I’ve just interacted with (or who saw me online in one place or another). I was top of mind when they were looking for another freelancer to help out on a project.

The resultS

  1. You’re more likely to get the most out of the actual course material because you’re striving to be the number one student.

  2. And you’re able to get your name, face and testimonial on a highly visited website, likely for years to come.

Next time you take a course, join a mastermind or a membership, consider committing to the Number One Student and the Poster Child Method. It’s brought me a lot of value and I’d love for you to reap similar results as well.
